How life changes a person is truly amazing.

I remembered thinking, Why God! Me, Cancer. Then I regrouped and remembered that Cancer was not me. I am a daughter, mother, friend, teacher, child of God. I found my strength and said I will not only beat and survive this disease but live a full life. With a lot of prayer and support from my family and close friends I dealt with chemotherapy, radiation and now tamoxifen and have celebrated four years of being healthy and I am so grateful.

Now, Dragon Boating! I thought that was hilarious. My friend Beverly and her twin sister were joining a team of Breast Cancer Survivors and said I should also join. This was funny because I have motion sickness and am afraid of canoeing (long story).Here it is three years later and I am enjoying every moment of it. I am a proud member of a team of terrific and inspiring women. The Empire Dragon Boat Team.

When I think about Empire I think about how I have conquered a fear. About how we women depend on one another when we are on the boat. About how we can talk to each other and uplift one another. We are a family. Our wonderful coaching from James 1 & James 2 make us better. Donna, our captain encourages us to work hard, exercise and eat right. We have fought a good fight and won.

I thank God each and everyday for my friends and family and the ability to share my joys and experiences with others.
